Jackie on TOL tomorrow

posted in Education |

There’s a lot to talk about these days in the schools and beyond.  Jackie will be joining Lynne on Thinking Out Loud tomorrow, 91.5 WUML, at 10:00 am, and the conversation will undoubtedly touch on education issues as well as politics at the local, state and national levels.  Listen in if you have the chance and post your comments and feedback here.

    So what did she say?

I said the search process was a bit rushed and the market is tight–Dr. Scott was the only finalist with superintendent experience. I talked about her strengths and the evidence that convinced me she had the skills to do the job well, such as her abilities with organization and instruction in special ed where she was able to allocate resources so this subgroup made adequate progress on MCAS without increased funding; she also achieved high levels of collaboration and team building with the unions and the town–all areas which would be of great benefit to Lowell. I’m confident Dr. Scott will do a good job and bring our schools to the next level; we made tremendous progress under Dr. Baehr in terms of curriculum and professional development; Dr. Scott will promote alliances, partnerships, and community support to build on those efforts. I am also hopeful that with her guidance, we will meet the needs of all students better, from special ed services to high-achieving learners. Thanks for asking.
